I always felt so bad for
Wendy Darling as a child—
I watched her wait for Peter Pan,
The boy who would never grow up.
What was his appeal?
He flirted with
Tiger Lily and Tinker Bell and the mermaids,
Who had more exotic appeal than
Just an ordinary girl in a nightgown
Who wanted the best for him.
/
I have often wondered
If he found his way back to Wendy,
Or if she had to let him go,
Leaving him to
Neverland,
The Lost Boys,
And even such villains as Captain Hook.
/
Maybe by the time
he appeared at her windowsill
It was too late.
